Accident prevention for health visitors

Keep in Mind (KIM) is an aide-memoire developed by Children in Wales to help health visitors to identify the causes of fatal, serious and disabling injuries.

Accidental injury remains a leading cause of death for children with most of these injuries happening within the home. However, it has been shown that many health visitors have not received training in home accident prevention, and so KIM has been developed to help address this and raise awareness.

All health visitors in Wales are being given a free hard copy of KIM, and it is also available for download at www.childrenin wales.org.uk/areasofwork/childsafety

- Hard copies of KIM are now available to buy for £29.50 for 50 copies. For more information contact karen.mcfarlane@childreninwales.org.uk

- NCB (England and Northern Ireland) works in partnership with Children in Scotland and Children in Wales. For further information visit www.childreninscotland.org.uk (0131 228 8484) or www.childreninwales.org.uk (029 2034 2434)
